Some pictures of my degus and their sand level - this level is a half level at the top of the enclosure with a balcony area.
Check it out if you want some inspiration for your own sand level!

So you have just bought / adopted degus - great!
The first and in many ways most important aspect of keeping degus is the enclosure, where your degu is (most likely) going to spend the entirety of its life. This is an important and expensive decision however you go about it, but once this challenge has been conquered the rest of your degus requirements will fall into place so easily. Choosing the right enclosure will prevent many issues from arising. The right enclosure reduces the risk of degus fighting, allows them the opportunity to exercise (and therefore is related to health), allows them to exhibit a much more natural behavioural pattern and much more. I am a strong advocate of wooden enclosures (and just a little bias!) but both metal and wooden enclosures have their advantages. After the break I will attempt to sum up the pros and cons of each to help you better make best the decision for you and your furry friends. Hello everyone, its time for part 2 of the degu products series. In this post we are going to focus on some of the items you can purchase in Pets at Home that are suitable for your degus and are located in the reptiles section. Click to read more!
What do I do with a pile of wood thats green and nasty? Well, you can give it to your degus of course! But lets clean it first eh? Luckily, in my line of work, I meet lots of different people - including many gardeners. These gardeners are nice enough to bring me their stumps and branches free of charge. Some require cleaning, some do not. In this example, the wood I am cleaning has been left to rot for a couple of months. Read after the break to see how I cleaned this wood.
Hey everyone, after a big shopping trip and a spend of £60.00(!) - I have come back from Pets at Home with some suitable degu products. Click to read more after the break; I will be giving a write up on some of the things I have purchased.
(My apologies in advance for some of the pictures, my camera had some trouble adjusting to the light this evening.) |
